Youth Guidance operates the only Child Abuse Prevention Center, or CAP Center, in Indian River County. The goal of the CAP Center is to keep children safe, increase parent engagement, and build strong families. At the core of the CAP Center is our Parent Aide Program.

What Is Exchange Parent Aide?
Trained staff members visit the homes of parents weekly to help them set goals, access resources in the community, and ensure their needs are met. These visits last six months to one year.
The Exchange Parent Aide program is provided to families enrolled in Youth Guidance on a free and voluntary basis. It was developed by the National Exchange Club.
So far, the program has created safer homes for more than 1,727,800 children across the United States.
Youth Guidance uses the Nurturing Parenting curriculum during home visits with parents. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of families with children from prenatal to 19 years old. Program areas include mental health, personal finance, and positive actvities parents can do with their children.
